BIOGRAPHY

Luc Boivin, Painter , Illustrator SCA

Luc Boivin is a man of many talents. He is a building technologist, teacher, writer, illustrator and artist.

He is originally from Ottawa and grew up in Outaouais. It was his grandmother Rose who, at a very young age, passed on to him the taste and love of art. She introduced him to drawing.

In 1981, he obtained a college diploma with honors in Architectural Technology from Algonquin College in Ontario. For 35 years he pursued a career with an architectural firm specializing in the restoration of historic buildings. In retirement he gained the time to explore other interests.

Luc Boivin discovered and perfected the highly technical and precise medium of airbrushing. For over ten years, he completed a multitude of complex projects on different surfaces, with a high level of detail all over North America and Europe

Needing to get out of his comfort zone he explored a new medium that offered immense possibilities: watercolor. His first attempt was successful and a passion took hold. His distinctive brushstroke and intuition revealed a clear talent. He experienced rapid progress.

His work " Fillette et son ourson " (Little Girl and her Teddy Bear) was published in 2016 in the Leisure Painter magazine in the United Kingdom. In 2020 and 2023 he was one of the 25 artist, selected in Canada, to exhibit some of his work  at the Fabriano in Aquarello international exhibition in Italy.

He has been invited to exhibit his works at the Cegep de Victoriaville.

Luc Boivin shares his passion by leading demonstrations of his distinctive approach to the character in action in front of different groups and associations of watercolorists. He has led demonstrations in English and French, in the classroom or via ZOOM.
